Amadeus

I was excited that we were able to watch Amadeus the other day in class. I've seen parts of the movie in other classes, but never the whole thing. I had never seen the part where Mozart takes his family to the poor or common theater. I thought this part was really funny because he was watching his own work being mocked and destroyed, however he thought that it was entertaining. It was obvious by the film that the operas Mozart produced were masterpieces and could be considered art, while the common people were only creating theater which would keep them entertained. The contrast between the two performances was so strong. It basically summed up the contrast between the two social classes.

I also thought this scene was interesting because it showed that the poor theater took their ideas from the elite opera house. This was interesting to see because we still do this today. I know that the Broadway show rent was inspired by an opera and I'm sure more shows (that i am not aware of) were too.

Hi,
my name is Jayne and I am a junior at UT. I am double majoring in communications and advertising and PR. I have always liked art, especially art history. I did not know much about this class when i decided to take it, but now that i know more about what we will be doing i am very excited.

I am originally from Baltimore, MD. I am a huge Ravens fan and am disappointed that they won't be going to the Superbowl. I work at the academic advising office on campus, so if anyone every has questions about their schedules or majors feel free to ask me ( i can at least tell you who to talk to).
